Therapy is a powerful journey! I will work alongside you through the challenges and uncertainties and any areas of your life where you feel the call to grow. Together, we will discover your innate strengths and inner healing wisdom along with new insights and perspectives. I will rely on my knowledge to provide you with new information and techniques to help you achieve your goals for wellness. Together, we will also cultivate and nurture new skills, knowledge, and ways of being that support your journey in life long after therapy ends. We will use our relationship to build safety, connection, empowerment, and healing. It is my privilege to be part of your therapy experience. I honour this by creating a supportive, compassionate, non-judgmental atmosphere. It is crucial that you feel safe, supported, and comfortable with me to really get to the core transformative elements in therapy. For this reason, our early sessions together will allow us to form a strong therapeutic relationship based on mutual respect, honesty, trust, and kindness. I am currently completing my internship under the supervision of Siobhan Major (Registered Psychotherapist) as the last step in receiving my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I completed a Specialized Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at York University and am a Registered Social Service Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with an Honours Bachelor of Social Work and eight years of experience supporting individuals. While I have enjoyed working with people of all ages, I have a particular passion for working with teenagers! I have extensive experience supporting youth with anxiety, depression, and navigating the many other challenges that come with growing and changing.

I draw primarily from Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, while also incorporating concepts from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that everyone deserves a safe and non-judgmental space to talk openly about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My role is to offer thoughtful questions, insights, and new perspectives that can help clients better understand themselves, recognize patterns, and discover possibilities for meaningful change and personal growth.

Sometimes, life can feel like a lot—especially when you’re a child or teenager trying to make sense of big feelings, difficult experiences, or changes that you didn’t ask for. Maybe anxiety is taking up more space than you’d like, your confidence has taken a hit, or you’re feeling overwhelmed and not quite sure how to put what’s going on into words. For parents and caregivers, it can be hard to watch someone you love struggle and not know how to help. I’m Megan McLaughlin, a Registered Psychotherapist, and I work with children, youth, and families who are navigating these kinds of challenges. My goal is to create a space where you and your child can feel comfortable being yourself without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. My style is warm and empathetic, with a little humour along the way when it fits. Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating or overly formal. I believe that building a genuine connection and feeling understood are an important part of the work. Together, we can make sense of what’s happening, build practical tools for managing difficult emotions, and work toward feeling more confident and in control. I have several years of experience working with individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, trauma & attachment, and disordered eating. I draw from approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Experiential Family Therapy. Reaching out for support can feel like a big first step. If you’re wondering whether therapy might be helpful, I’d be happy to connect and see if we might be a good fit.
